Soup
Hola a todos. This time I'll talk about something about spanish.
Soup can be "sopa" or "caldo". Examples: Chicken soup = "Caldo de pollo", "consomé de pollo"; don't say "sopa de pollo" that sounds really weird.
Fish soup = "Caldo de pescado", "consomé de pescado", "chilpachole de pescado", it depends on the dish.
Onion soup = "sopa de cebolla" It is always "sopa" in this case.
Meat stock = "caldo de res".
Yummy ! Bon appetite!

Dale Carnegie
I've been reading a good book of Dale Carnegie. (Carnegui) And I was interested in knowing more about his life. Doing a quickly research I learned something about his life.
He was come from a poor family, that had a farm and breed pigs and they had to move because of the floods. They move to another place and there was a school in a city. He went to that school and could live in a city if he had the money but he didn't. He commuted from the farm to the school and vice versa riding a horse. He was ashamed because of his tight clothes.
He wanted to stand out from the crowd and realized that the only ones who stood out were the football players, basketball players and those who won oratory contests. He knew he wasn't good at sports so he participated in a oratory contest and studied a lot. He got prepared very well at nights and while he commuted. At the end he won the contest.
After finishing his studies he got a job in sales and had to visit all the rangers of the zone. He quit and went to another place by train, he didn't have money and made a deal to feed the animals in the freight car/wagon in exchange for his ticket. Then he got another job as a vendor of bacon, ham and cream. He went to different places by train. When his customers couldn't pay for the produce he took a dozen of shoes and sold to the train workers and with that money he paid back the company for the ham, bacon, etc. He did an excellent work and was promoted but he didn't accept and quit. Then he moved to NY to study and perform role plays for a while, he knew he wasn't good at it and quit. After that he got another job in sales, this time it was for selling trucks. He missed a lot the free time, and quit so that he could have time to write his books. He wanted to be a teacher and thought that he was really good at oratory. He asked for a job in a religious institution as a oratory teacher for businessmen and he wanted a wage of 2 dollars a day, but the institution didn't accept. He insisted again but he said that if he was successful at the courses then the institution had to pay him a percentage of it. He was very successful and wrote some books. After that time he was earning one dollar per minute for his courses.
One of the rearches that did the University in Chigado said that everybody was interested in:
1. Health
2. The ability to deal with the people.
3. the technique to get along well with people and influence on them.
4. They want to learn instructions that can be used inmediatly in business, social networks and at home.
So in at that time there wasn't any book about that. So that's why he wrote a useful book.
I think that everybody has a task in this life and Dale Carnegie found it. No matter how tough your life is you can get your objectives.

Vacations
The exposition to the sun is accumulative, If you are too exposed to it you may end up getting skin cancer. On vacations and everyday we stay outside we should take care of our skins. I've heard that we should put on some sunblock before going outside. A doctor said that If we don't have enough money to buy expensive products for the skin, at least we should buy sunblock and use it everyday. In the long term the skin will look better than the people who have been exposed to the sun lights without protection.
I live in a country where it's warmer and hot most of the year, and well I clean my face and I put a hydratation cream and that's it, but I don't protect from the sun. I need to get a peaked cap or a beach hat and some sunblock.
I know that in cold places the people take advantage of the summer time and travel to a hotter place and take sun baths. I don't know if that's good or not for the skin, but it's good for their bones.
Better safe than sorry.

Supermarkets
Hi guys, I'm really sorry for not writing anything in these days. Today let's talk about the big supermarkets like Walmart and the pros and cons of it.
It turns out that Walmart wants to open a new store in a town near the city where I live. The town is considered like one of the most touristic spots within the area, it has many traditions, its architecture is unique and it's supposed to be protected by the Archaeology and History National Institute. This institute is in charge of preserving the architecture of the old houses and buildings, so If they did their job they wouldn't let Walmart to settle in the town.
Mom and pops businesses alleged that they are going to shut because they can't compete against the low prices of the supermarket's merchandise. The crowd said that the supermarket would destroy the architecture of the place because of the size and big industrial facilities they required and because it has nothing to do with the view of the town.
Today the town came to my city to protest and disagree about it.
I have heard in other places for example in some of the archaeological zones that Walmart has tried to settle and the people went to the streets to protest.
On my humble point of view I hope that this supermarket won't be settle in the town, because the people are going to lose their incomes, and apart from that it is going to destroy the view of the town. Even though the supermarket rent or buy a big old house and respect the facade they need a lot of land to build the parking lot, and it will look really awful. I think that all the money the supermarket gets goes directly to the USA. So let's better buy the things on the corner shops.
What do you think about it?
Have an excellent weekend and have fun. Peace

Speaking Spanish
This time I'll analize how foreigners speak Spanish.
The British vice prime minister Nick Clegg speaks this way. Check the video.
My comments are that he's fluent. If I didn't know his nacionality I wouldn't say that he's British. He has a spanish accent when speaking. Everybody can understand him regardless the few mistakes he did, but that's acceptable. In spanish although people speak gramatically wrong any spanish native speaker can get them.
Now lets see Nelly Furtado.
She is very brave at speaking Spanish. We can listen some mistakes in the gender words.
Let's now see Michelle Rodriguez.
She is very good at Spanish, I could notice only one mistake when she says "succeso" instead of "éxito". She does it very well because her family is "latina" and she must have learned the language at home.
The last person is Robert from a tv program called GEM
He is very fluent at Spanish. Although he has been living in Mexico for years, he can't get rid of his American accent. Most of the American people when speaking Spanish have a similar accent, unless they come from a latina's family
No matter what accent they have everybody can understand them when Speaking Spanish.
