Learning words by chunks

Learning words by chunks

learning words by chunks

To learn a language I've realized that learning chunks of words instead of simple words is more effective.

That's why I'll try to write a list of words that we need to learn in order to speak more fluent and not to think too much about it.

For example:

1. comment on (topic) - Comentar un (tema)
2. concentrate on (doing something) - Concentrarse en (hacer algo)
3. consist of (some things) - Consistir de (algunas cosas)
4. count on (someone) to (do something) - Contar con (alguien) para (hacer algo)
5. agree on (topic) - Estar de acuerdo en (un tema)
6. agree with (someone) - Estar de acuerdo con (alguien)
7. admire (someone) for (doing something) - Admirar a (alguien) por (hacer algo)
8. Complain to (someone) about (something) - Quejarse de (alguién) acerca de (algo)
9. Care about (someone/something/topic) - Preocuparse por (alguién/ algo/ un tema)
10. Compare (something) to/with (something else) - Comparar (algo) con (algo más)

Try to use this verb and prepositions collocations this week so you carve them in your mind and you'll never forget.

Sabes que significa "you are preaching to the choir"?

You are preaching to the choir

This idiom means that you don't have to say more things to another person because she or he already agrees with you.

En español sería algo equivalente a no desperdiciar el tiempo tratando de convencer a alguien que ya está totalmente de acuerdo.

Example:

You: I know many governments are corrupted, because ...

Your friend: Yes buddy, you are preaching to the choir.

Se que muchos gobiernos son corruptos, porque ...

Si amigo, no desperdicies tu tiempo, porque estoy totalmente de acuerdo.
