If you want to learn Spanish from the scratch, you have to learn the method that children use. They learn how to speak first and then they learn the grammar when they are about 6 years old. 

I recommend you to learn the phonetics first so that you'll be able to pronounce the words and even read correctly.

You can also learn basic sentences and expressions and the easiest way to reply questions.

It's also good to learn words that are similar to the English language because you will get familiar with them and there's no need to use a dictionary for the meaning. You'll save a lot of time. This words are called "Cognates" or "Cognados" in Spanish

No todo lo que brilla es oro. It means that something pleasing to the eye may not in reality be what it seems.
No todo lo que aparentemente se ve bien, funciona y es fantástico es bueno; o no toda persona que te ayuda, que sabe muchas cosa y te impresiona es buena.

Example:

You: I saw a chinese watch on the internet, it's really cool. 
Your friend: You'd better not buy it because it is disposable, all that glitters is not gold.

Tu: Vi un reloj chino en el internet, está muy padre.
Tu amigo: No deberías comprarlo porque son desechables, no todo lo que brilla es oro.

Por la noche todos los gatos son pardos . De noche todos los gatos son pardos - It means that you can't distinguish someone or something well at night because it's dark.

Example:

I don't know if I can go to the wedding tonight because my suit has some stains. Oh come on, all cats are grey in the dark.  - No sé si pueda ir a la boda en la noche porque mi traje tiene unas manchas. Vamos!, por la / de noche todos los gatos son pardos.
